Fabricator-Plater - Glasgow - £33,380 - £44,395 + generous overtime availability

My client, one of the largest engineering and manufacturing companies of their kind in the world, are looking for qualified Fabricator - Platers

Our client's shipbuilding business is growing, and we are now recruiting Fabricator - Platers to fabricate, assemble and/or install parts of a ship, with the aim of delivering the very best product possible. Constructing the ship, pulling together all the component parts, you will be working to engineering standards, striving for quality and 'right first time'. You and your skilled colleagues will take the ship from bare steel design to the final constructed warship. You'll be joining a team of experienced, creative, production trade shipbuilders.

Your main responsibilities as a Fabricator - Plater will involve:

  • Interpreting engineering drawings
  • Marking - off materials
  • Plate perpetration, using different methods (Oxy - fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding), pressure testing, drilling & lock fitting
  • Assembling of ships structures, shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, & longitudinal
  • Fit, fair and tack weld steelwork using fairing aids
  • Fabrication of ship items - seats, ladders, false flooring & panels
  • Outfitting Ships items, fitting of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats & false flooring
  • Forming Material using machine tools - Rolling, Flanging & Cutting Machines (guillotine, cropper mechanical saw)
  • Preparing ship for float-off & ship sea trials

Pay/shift details

Standard salary is £33,380 for day and/or back shift whereas if you did one of either night or weekend shift permanently your salary would effectively be £44,395.40 and if you were to rotate then it'd land somewhere I the middle.

OVERTIME is paid at different rates according to day of the week and is available to increase the earning potential on any shift (details below)

Overtime scheme for extra hours worked on the below days on any shift:

Mon - Thurs - 1.33 (Time and a 3rd)

Friday - Time and a half for the first 4 hours, and double time for anything thereafter

Saturday - Time and a half

Sunday - Double time

Choice of Shifts available:

Day shift 0700-1630 (Monday to Friday)

Back shift 1400-1130 (Monday-Thursday)

Night shift +33% 2030-0600 (Monday to Friday)

Weekend shift +33% 0700-1930 (Fri, Sat, Sun)

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Trade papers, e.g., formal apprenticeship (ability to provide papers)
  • Current knowledge and experience in Fabrication
  • Clear understanding of SHE risks awareness
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and or at height

Desirable:

  • Safety certification i.e., SHE induction, COSHH awareness, working at height
  • Background in major construction / manufacturing environment

While working as a Fabricator - Plater for this company, you will be rewarded with a basic salary of £33,380.00 and may be eligible for a further 33% shift allowance. Attractive rates of overtime are also paid.
