The Metropolitan Water District needs a Facility Maintenance Mechanic for our Headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, CA.

Location:
Headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, CA. 

·         This is a temporary position, up to 6 months.

·         Work Schedule Monday – Friday 6:30 am to 3 pm

Pay: $39/hr. to $44/hr.

The individual will be responsible for general building and facilities maintenance, as part of a team. This is a customer service -orientated position responsible for responding to customer requests received by email, phone, or Data Splice. Manage and troubleshoot the day-to-day maintenance and customer needs for all building occupants. Responsibilities include performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial fixtures, furniture, and equipment (FFE), including modular furniture and standalone. Perform services requests such as hanging pictures, moving furniture, setting up event spaces, and assembling miscellaneous equipment. Perform weekly/monthly housekeeping and safety checks of bunding interior and office space. Coordinate the salvage of old equipment and furniture. Individuals must have excellent interpersonal skills to work in an office environment.

Duties:  

-                      Respond to daily Facility ticket request.

-                      Assembles and moves furniture, office equipment, hangs pictures and office boards.

-                      Setup large and small events.

-                      Ensures proper use of tools and assigned machinery and reports any concerns to supervision.

-                      Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as-found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy ana operations.

-                      Complete daily and monthly checklists to ensure the safety of the facility.

-                      Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with building and agency staff.

-                      Keys and rekeying

-                      Keep stock of inventory

-                      Collect and prepare e-waste for pick-up.

-                      Documents work performance and materials procurement as directed, using a workorder system.

-                      Ability to communicate the status of work activity and identify methods to perform activities safely, effectively, and efficiently.

-                      Other assigned operational tasks may be typically expected of a facility maintenance professional.

Required Knowledge of: Troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair, related to carpentry, electrical and mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and locksmithing; building and residential safety codes and regulations; and current office technology and equipment.

Required Skills and Abilities to: Use power equipment and hand tools; apply general rules related to building and residential repair and maintenance; use independent judgment and exercise discretion; problem solve; prioritize and multi-task; communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; work independently and in a team environment; and operate current office equipment including computers and supporting applications.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED in addition to a minimum of (6) years of recent experience.
  • This position is a temporary assignment up to 6 months
  • A valid Driver’s License (Required)
