The primary responsibility of a Field Engineer is to gain knowledge on how projects are built. Field Engineers spend the majority of their time on-site assisting with UCI's production system, operations, and ensuring quality work is put in place. This position is generally held for 1-3 years while learning and discovering the future path of their career.

Field Engineer Core Roles:

• Manage and direct staff members and the construction, operations, or maintenance activities at the project site.
• Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, and structural repairs to project and managerial personnel.
• Direct or participate in survey and layout to establish reference points, grades, and elevations to guide construction.
• Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety or sanitation standards.
• Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project progress and billings.
• Test soils and materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.

• Communicates with UCI personnel, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and engineers the project's progress, quality requirements, delivery of materials, and many other aspects of the project.

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field ().
• In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Experience
• 2+ years construction experience ().
• 0-2 years construction supervision experience ().
