Role Description

We are seeking a Field Sales Representative (“FSR”) to join our sales organization at Thorson. This is a full-time remote position based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The FSR will be responsible for managing and growing an assigned book of existing accounts (end customers) as well as leading the pursuit of new customers through outbound prospecting and networking. 

As an FSR you will: 

  • Service end customers in varying markets associated with the Utah technology marketplace (military, aerospace, medical, industrial, consumer, etc)

  • Regularly report the status of existing and net new business to Thorson management as well as to our list of principals (line card, suppliers) 

  • Oversee reporting for your book of business by leveraging Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) while also updating data directly in our comprehensive CRM tool

  • Build strategic customer-facing presentations and proposals, focused on solutions and outcomes 

 

Required Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (), business, or related field

  • 5+ years experience in the electronics industry in a customer-facing, revenue-impacting role (sales, marketing, applications engineering, project management)

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • A persistent sense of urgency and the ability to create urgency within accounts as well as internal stakeholders

  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with customers

  • Proficient in electronic component technology both in active (ICs) as well as passive and electromechanical components and system-level products (box build, LRU, etc)

  • Superior organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software

  • Ability to travel within the Rocky Mountain region

  • You are a self-starter with a can-do demeanor, and you thrive in nimble and fast-paced environments

 

“nice to have” Competencies

  • Engineering degree (preferably Electrical Engineer)

  • Experience of the SLC electronic account base

  • Experience selling to defense and aerospace customers: L3, Northrup Grumman in SLC a plus

  • Experience managing data in a CMR

  • Experience working in a small business environment

Compensation

  • Base salary ranges $100-$130K annually

  • Quarterly bonus based on commission growth and performance metrics (Calls, NBOs, Wins)

  • Additional commissions can be earned on new closed opportunities after the start date

 

Eligible Reimbursements:

  • Reimbursement for documented customary and reasonable business expenses. Company credit cards will be provided with direct billing to Thorson for meals, travel, and entertainment.

  • Mileage reimbursed at $.39/mile, up to $700/mo, as an expense reimbursement (not taxed).

  • Additional: Cell phone options—keep yours or join our plan. We’ll pay $75/mo if you manage your own phone and plan. Alternatively, join our plan, and the phone and monthly charges are covered by the company.

  • Laptop and software provided.

  • Home internet connection reimbursed $50/mo.

Vacation:

  • 3 weeks per year plus 10 holidays and 2 personal days per year.

Benefits:

  • Full medical and dental coverage. HSA plan. Thorson pays 100% of your premium and 50% of all dependents.

  • Long-term and life insurance for you are paid by Thorson.

  • Immediate eligibility in a 401k plan for contributions. 401K employer contribution of 3% of compensation annually after one year. 5 Year vesting period (20% per year) for eligibility of employer contribution
