Field Service Engineer – Automation Machinery
- $40+ per hour for level III -
- $35+ per hour for level II -
- $30+ per hour for level I -
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and adaptable Field Service Engineer to join our team specializing in automation & robotic machinery installation, commissioning and some programming. Machinery is used in packaging, food & beverage, pharma, and personal care manufacturing industries. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, a strong ability to troubleshoot and repair complex systems, and the flexibility to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods (6–8 weeks).
Key Responsibilities:
· Lead the installation and setup of packaging, automation, and material handling equipment.
· Conduct system tests and calibrations to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with customer requirements.
· Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure equipment reliability.
· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software-related issues.
Installation & Commissioning:
· Lead the installation and commissioning of automated machinery at customer sites.
· Perform system integration, I/O checks, and ensure machine alignment with specifications.
· Conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT).
Programming & Troubleshooting:
· Program and configure PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.), HMIs, and industrial automation systems.
· Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues in the field.
· Optimize system performance through software updates and calibration.
Experience:
· 3-5 years of field service experience in packaging machinery, automation systems, material handling equipment, or similar industries.
· Experience with PLC troubleshooting or programming, robotics, and motion control systems is highly desirable.
· Ability to customer sites in Canada, Mexico, Asia, and Europe
· Experience or availability for long term deployments (6-8 weeks)
· Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens TIA, Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, etc.) and HMIs.
· Experience with conveyor systems, packaging systems, robotic arms, automated equipment integration, material handling, capital equipment robotic arms or similar equipment is great experience.
Other Requirements:
· Valid passport and eligibility to travel internationally.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to operate service vehicles.
