HRU has teamed up with a global automation manufacturer to find a field service technician to join their team in Caledonia, MI. This is a direct hire position offering a comprehensive benefits package, a great work environment and plenty of travel opportunities. This is a salaried fluctuating work week non-exempt position. Summary: Travels to customer facilities to diagnoses problems and repairs machines that are in service at customer facilities throughout the United States, and Canada. Also, may travel to customer facilities to perform machine inspections and planned maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Travels to customer facilities to diagnoses mechanical and basic electrical problems of machines that are in service. Resolve machine problems by repairing or replacing mechanical, electrical and/or pneumatic components. Works remotely with commissioning technicians at our company in the US and in Germany to commission repaired or replaced components.

2. Works with internal project coordinator to insure traveling tool boxes are properly stocked with all required items before boxes are shipped to job site.

3. Travels to customer facilities to perform detailed machine inspections. Writes detailed report of all findings and prioritizes list to give customer a clear plan of action to effect needed repairs.

4. Travels to customer facilities to perform scheduled maintenance and repairs.

Education/Experience:

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

2. Four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3. A broad range of hands-on mechanical and electrical skills/training is considered.

Essential Function Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Outlook.

Certificates and Licenses: Valid driver's license Valid passport

Equipment:

  1. Utilize power and hand tools
  2. Utilize precision (caliper, micrometer, precision machinists levels etc..) and gross (measuring tape, ruler etc..) measuring instruments
  3. Utilize electrical instruments (multimeter, ampmeter etc…)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); extreme heat (non-weather) and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Extensive travel will be required for this job.
