A prominent manufacturing company in the Metro Detroit area is seeking a Field Service Technician.
Job Purpose:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for completing assigned tasks and projects at customer facilities and global locations, ensuring equipment and tools are built, installed, and tested to meet quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform final assembly, testing, and run-off of equipment and tools at designated facilities.
- Install and perform final run-off of equipment and tools at customer sites.
- Communicate project updates and open items with program managers and stakeholders.
- Serve as the onsite liaison for customers, coordinating project activities and priorities.
- Maintain detailed service reports and ensure customer acknowledgment of open and closed items per project scope.
- Assist engineering and sales teams with onsite requests for equipment changes, providing input on feasibility, materials, and labor.
- Support sales and material management with customer requests for spare parts or equipment improvements.
- Ensure professional communication and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Complete tasks with attention to quality and craftsmanship according to customer specifications.
- Provide regular progress updates to the manager and track performance measures.
- Train customer employees on equipment operation, maintenance, and setup.
- Document time and material costs for all service-related tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: High school diploma with training in tool making, custom equipment building, PLCs, and electrical schematics.
- Education: College diploma in manufacturing or related field.
- Experience:
- At least 10 years in an assembly manufacturing environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Experience using computers for reading schematics, generating reports, and remote equipment support.
- Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Familiarity with PLC platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Omron.
