Field Service Technician

Come join the SIGMA Team! We are currently looking for a Field Service Technician. This position will apply electronic theory, principles of electrical circuits, electrical testing procedures, and related knowledge to test, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment. The Field Service Technician is responsible for completing the repair and testing of used equipment that has either been purchased by SIGMA Equipment for resale or sold to our existing customers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Observes functioning of equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of electrical, electronic components and mechanical components.
- Understands and is able to trouble-shoot and repair solid state motor drives, solid state temperature controllers and computer-based controllers.
- Reads and understands electronic and electrical schematics; draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
- Disassemble machinery or equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
- Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning (electrical) components of machinery or equipment.
- Reprogram machinery to run new product lines.
- Maintain backups of programs from all electrical devices.
- Examine machinery parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear.
- Re-assemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
- Clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery.
- Analyze test results, machine error messages, or information obtained from observation to diagnose equipment problems.
- Record repairs and maintenance performed in the central database.
- Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
Travel
- Up to 75% travel may be required
- Goal is to bring a technician home every weekend, but some weekend work may be required as needed
- All travel expenses covered by the company

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
- Documented proficient working knowledge of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs/controls/protocols platforms required.

- Ability to work with RS Logix (multiple series)
- Strong Mechanical aptitude/ability
- High level of electrical aptitude / ability
- Experience with pneumatics and electricity
- Experience working in an industrial environment
- Associates degree in electronics technology or equivalent certification.
- Valid drivers license
