Job Summary: The responsibilities of the Field Supervisor is to supervise and oversee the daily business operations of our ICE Field Service Technicians. The type of work performed by the ICE department includes installing devices such as autoclaves/sterilizers, steam generators, washer disinfectors, lights, booms, as well as performing facility, construction, and site readiness services.

The Field Supervisor will perform training, provide guidance and structure, to focus and drive opportunities from the field and office. They will support Technicians while also performing installation services, preventive, and corrective, maintenance. All work requires clear and ongoing documentation, this includes supervisor duties as well as field service work.

The goal of the Field Supervisor is to enhance our customer service experience by providing prompt service and communication to all parties. They are to promote an efficient and proactive approach to our current Field Technician process. This may be achieved through cross-team collaboration and by working directly with our clients, vendors and office coordinators to ensure a high level of customer service is provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Field Service Duties

  • Installation Services (ICE): Support, perform, and lead work of our installation team. This type of work may require travel and off-hour scheduling. This may include up to one week for training and development and up to 25% of the job may be travel for site work & performance quality evaluations. Beltway travel on the day to day (495/695)

  • Preventive & Planned Maintenance: Support and perform scheduled preventative and planned maintenance.

  • Corrective Maintenance: Support and perform troubleshooting and repair services on the associated service line devices.

  • Work Safety: Support, perform, and promote jobsite safety. Should have a basic understanding and be able to interpret Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).

Supervisory Duties

  • Train and mentor staff on core duties & responsibilities; e.g. composing emails, troubleshooting, and handling customer complaints. Examples:

    • Project Completion Validation: Perform site evaluations to determine technician skills and ability to perform

    • Training Initiatives: work with coordinators, HRM, and Associate Project Manager on upskilling technicians

  • Responds to Field Technicians needs and concerns with flexibility and a genuine concern for their wellbeing.

    • Examples:

      • Receive, review, and approve:

        • Paid Time Off (PTO)

        • Timesheets

        • Expense reporting

        • Bereavement

      • Test equipment/Tool Needs

      • Partners with Associate Project Manager (APM) to create agenda and lead Technician meetings.

  • Follows up, coaches and mentors work performance

    • Collaborate on career planning and mapping for staff

  • Supervise and monitor the workflow of Atlantic Biomedical through collaboration with Field Technicians and Coordinators

  • Participates in the candidate selection process.

  • Partners with HRM and APM during annual review process

  • Partners with HRM and APM for recommendations on coaching opportunities and disciplinary actions.

    • Coaching and Guidance: Direct conversations with staff on upskills and where they’re at

  • Acts as a liaison between the Technicians, Coordinates, Customers, Vendors, and Management.

    • Dual Responsibilities: Hold the line between what’s best for business and what’s best for staff

Customer Service

  • 1st look to resolve customer complaints with regards to service

  • Receive direction from APM and implement a corrective action plan when directed on a client complaint, HYPERCARE, or other situation

    • Identifies when to escalate and take partners with HRM &/or APM for resolution.

  • Delivers excellent customer service and communicates with all parties

  • Coordinates with team to ensure consistent service

  • Seeks customer feedback to ensure AB is providing excellent service

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills and Ability:

  • Knowledge of the Construction industry

  • Familiarity with Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC trades

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate

  • Valid driver’s license and DOT card.

  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated as well as other immunizations required by our clients

Education and/or Experience: Minimum 3-5 years experience as a Tradesperson or Field Service Technician, supervisory or management experience .

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to walk, bend, kneel, sit, stand, squat, reach, twist, push, pull and grasp

  • Perform work from floor level to above shoulder height. This may include ladders and/or scaffolds

  • Routinely lift/lower/carry 1 to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/lower 75 to 150 pounds

  • Walking and standing for extended periods of time

  • Working in confined spaces and variable temperatures
