Job Description

We are seeking a temporary Financial Planning Analyst to join our clients main office in Forfar, with one day in their Montrose office. This role is crucial for financial planning and analysis for our clients UK and Baku ledgers, with a strong emphasis on local business collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

\n

Financial Planning and Analysis:

\n

    \n
  • Support financial planning and analysis for the UK and Baku ledgers within the Rig Aftermarket team, collaborating across various departments.
  • \n

  • Assist local management with reporting, analysis, and presentations regarding actuals, forecasts, and planning numbers.
  • \n

  • Monitor ongoing projects for relevant Business Units, ensuring timely and accurate revenue and cost recognition.
  • \n

  • Aid in the preparation and review of monthly P&L and management reports, as well as variance analysis for the FP&A Manager.
  • \n

  • Prepare labour recovery reconciliations for multiple Business Units and assist the FP&A Manager in their review.
  • \n

  • Analyze aged Work in Progress (WIP) and provide insights to ensure timely project completion, sharing relevant information with the accounting team for SOX compliance.
  • \n

  • Review and reconcile Contract Assets and Liabilities, including monitoring and providing commentary.
  • \n

  • Conduct monthly working capital analysis and commentary.
  • \n

  • Track monthly capital expenditures (Capex) against budget forecasts.
  • \n

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly forecasts and the Annual Financial Plan.
  • \n

  • Foster strong working relationships with team members and business partners.
  • \n

  • Analyze cost trends within departmental P&Ls proactively.
  • \n

  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and continuous improvement in FP&A processes and reporting.
  • \n

Accounting Tasks:

\n

    \n
  • Perform accounting functions related to FP&A and provide support to the wider Rig Aftermarket finance team as needed, including:\n
      \n
    • Preparing and posting monthly journals related to FP&A.
    • \n

    • Conducting balance sheet reconciliations.
    • \n

    • Assisting with information requests from external and internal auditors, tax compliance, and the Statutory Accounting team.
    • \n

    • Collaborating with Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) departments as required.
    • \n

    • Supporting month-end close processes and reporting.
    • \n

    • Handling other accounting and FP&A tasks as needed.
    • \n

  • \n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
  • \n

\n

Desirable:

\n

    \n
  • Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., CIMA, ACCA).
  • \n

\n

Experience:

\n

Essential:

\n

    \n
  • Proven experience as a business partner working with non-financial management.
  • \n

  • Familiarity with established ERP systems.
  • \n

\n

Desirable:

\n

    \n
  • Over 3 years of experience in a financial/accounting environment within a larger organization.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of percentage of completion (POC) accounting methods.
  • \n

  • Experience with Oracle and Glovia ERP systems.
  • \n

\n

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • \n

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent communication abilities.
  • \n

  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • \n
