Cowell Financial is an established comprehensive financial advisory firm located in the beautiful Brainerd Lakes Area. We are seeking an outstanding individual for the Financial Planning Associate position. See below for what this full-time opportunity entails and the characteristics of the right candidate.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Analyze, develop, implement and monitor financial planning analysis, including, but not limited to:
    • Gather financial data (homework items) from new and existing clients
    • Retirement projections/forecasts/modeling using various planning tools
    • Life insurance/ insurance/long-term care insurance needs analysis
    • Retirement income distribution strategies
    • Analyze investment, retirement and college savings accounts
    • Develop proper asset allocation strategies based on clients risk tolerance and investment objectives
    • Evaluate tax consequences and implement tax efficient strategies within financial plan
  • Use the financial planning tools and software to create/develop recommendations for new and existing clients in these subject areas:
    • Insurance (life, income, and long-term care)
    • Asset accumulation strategies
    • Asset decumulation strategies
    • Asset location
    • Asset allocation
    • Tax planning
    • Estate planning
    • Business planning
    • College funding
  • Communicate investment and financial planning recommendations to the team to ensure a smooth client onboarding process/experience
    • Work closely with the Planning Team and the Operations Team
    • Draft and send various email communications to clients
  • Assist in developing case preparation materials and processes including preparing insurance and investment proposals, insurance options documents and allocations of clients monthly budget commitment
  • Complete case preparation for all review meetings and collaborate withthe clients Advisor as needed
  • Participate in learning opportunities
    • Annual and Regional Meetings, Home Office Schools, Earning Designations and Webinars

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • SIE, Series 63, Series 7 licensespreferred
  • Life & Health Insurance Producer license
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with clients
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking, financial analysis and problem-solving skills required
  • Ability to assess a clients financial situation and analyze portfolios to develop and implement comprehensive financial plans aligned with the clients goals
  • Outstanding at performing and comprehending mathematical calculations, including Time Value of Money and operating a financial calculator
  • Extremely strong attention to detail with the ability to produce work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to simultaneously manage numerous complex projects and assignments in a timely and high-quality manner
  • Possesses a true commitment to lifelong learning, professional development and self-improvement
