Job Summary:
As a Fire Alarm Service Technician at Benson Systems, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations. This position requires a NICET 2 certification, demonstrating your expertise and proficiency in fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems, including a variety of control panels manufacturers, detectors, annunciators, and signaling devices.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with fire alarm systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions promptly.
- Conduct system repairs, replacements, and upgrades as needed to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
- Coordinate with clients to schedule service visits, communicate service plans, and provide guidance on system operation and maintenance.
- Document all service activities, including inspection reports, test results, and service logs, accurately and comprehensively using Building Reports.
- Collaborate with the installation team to ensure seamless integration of new fire alarm systems and provide technical support during commissioning and testing phases.
- Stay updated on industry developments, technology advancements, and regulatory changes related to fire alarm systems to maintain expertise and enhance service quality.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety protocols always to promote a culture of safety and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7-10 years proven experience in servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems, preferably in a commercial or industrial setting.
- Certifications: NICET Level II certification in Fire Alarm Systems. Other factory certifications are a plus.
- Skills: Experience with multimeters and company provided tools with strong technical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues efficiently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and thorough documentation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively to meet service deadlines.
- Background Check: Must pass a background check with no DUI or domestic violence records as some work may be on Federal Proper and Military Reservations. May require Arizona Class 1 Fingerprint card.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Willingness to participate in after-hours and on-call rotations as needed for emergency service requests.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment up to 40 lbs.
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
- Willingness to work 45+ hours per week, including nights and weekends – on call rotation.
- Ability to travel as needed with overnight stays.
Conditions:
- Primarily field-based with frequent travel to customer sites.
- Exposure to various weather conditions and working job site environments.
- Occasional evening or weekend work for emergency repairs.
- Occasional out of state and distance work.
