A trusted leader in providing material handling solutions across the MID-South region, is seeking a skilled and motivated Forklift Road Mechanic to join their team at the Jonesboro AR branch. The Forklift Road Mechanic is responsible for the repair and maintenance of customer-owned and company-owned equipment at customer locations. This role combines technical expertise with excellent customer service to ensure equipment operates efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair gas, propane, diesel, and electric-powered forklifts and related equipment using industry best practices and manufacturer documentation.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks, including lubrication, part replacements, and equipment inspections.
- Accurately assess equipment conditions and recommend appropriate repairs or upgrades.
- Communicate clearly with customers to explain identified issues, recommended solutions, and complete repairs.
- Provide professional and courteous service to maintain strong customer relationships.
- Create detailed and accurate work orders for repairs performed, parts used, and time spent.
- Log correct travel and work time for each assignment to ensure proper record-keeping and billing.
- Follow up daily on all work in process to meet service deadlines.
- Maintain inventory of tools and parts in the assigned vehicle or warehouse.
- Order and follow up on required parts to ensure timely repairs.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to company and customer safety policies.
- Drive safely and courteously, following all traffic laws and regulations.
- Deliver parts or components to customers as needed.
- Assist with shop-based repairs when required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent-required; technical or trade school training is a plus.
- A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a forklift mechanic – required.
- Proven ability to diagnose and repair gas, propane, diesel, and electric-powered equipment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Technical aptitude for reading schematics, service manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record – required.
- Proficient in the use of a laptop/computer, with various software programs.
- Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, multimeters, ohmmeters, and pressure/compression gauges.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Must be able to lift and move heavy objects, bend, and stand for extended periods.
