Freelance Design Manager

Job Description

Following the award of a £50m+ new build project, a Tier One contractor are seeking a Design Manager on a freelance basis for a duration of 18 months to two years.\n\nOverseeing the Design process, you’ll exemplify the companies commitment to Health & Safety, and ensuring quality and best practice will be second nature to you\n\n * Manage the development of all Contractor design within the project\n\n * Ensuring strict adherence to all design and build procedures\n\n * Ensure the design and delivery program is always adhered to\n\n * Co-ordinate external contractors with the Design team\n\n * Develop and finalise various works packages\n\n * Ensure the external contractor’s elements of the project are developed in accordance with the project specifications and drawings achieving the desired quality\n\n * Effectively manage and co-ordinate sub-contractors works packages and design information flow\n\n * Chair Co-ordination Meetings and Subcontractor Design Meetings and any other such meetings as necessary\n\n * Responsible for contract administration for the contractor’s design portion packages\n\n * Assist in providing monthly internal and external site performance reports covering design, design development, risk and procurement / off site manufacture.\n\n * Assist the commercial team with subcontract issues and any divergence from the tendered bid\n\nThe successful candidate would ideally be degree qualified in a construction related subject with extensive experience within a design management role however this role would also suit someone who is currently working in a Design Coordination capacity who is looking to take on more responsibility and progress towards a Design Manager level. Applicants must have UK construction experience, ideally with a building main contractor or architectural practice.\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Office; CAD knowledge is a plus.\nWillingness to learn work on own development outside the role.\nOrganised with excellent time management skills.\n\nRemuneration\nDay rate will vary depending on experience but as a guide £(Apply online only) per day (Ltd company)\n\nThis is a temporary position and Elvet Recruitment Limited will be acting as an employment agency for temporary recruitment on behalf of our client
