Position: Freight Operations Manager - Marine / Shipping \n\nLocation: Southampton\n \nSalary: up to £80,000\n\nWe are recruiting for our client, a market leader in marine logistics, bridging oceans and offering world-class transportation and shipping solutions. As they expand their services, they are looking for a highly skilled Freight Operations Manager - Marine / Shipping, who is passionate about the Marine freight forwarding industry and who has the vision to help them provide exceptional service.\n\nAs a freight operations manager, you will be responsible for shaping UK operations and making the impossible happen for clients. You will drive operational excellence, leading a team of professionals to implement strategic initiatives.\n\nYour key responsibilities as a Freight Operations Manager - Marine / Shipping:\n\n* Manage and lead a team of 12 professionals/freight forwarders, to ensure efficient and effective marine operations\n* Oversee the day-to-day operations of their bespoke freight and marine logistics, ensuring efficient cargo movements\n* Lead, mentor and develop the marine operations team\n* Full income statement ownership\n* Full operational and financial responsibility for the department, including file profitability and disbursement management\n* Interaction with Shipping lines and transport suppliers concerning rate discussions and negotiations\n* Build strong and lasting relationships with key partners and represent the company at strategic events\n* Monitor industry trends and advancements to improve operational effectiveness\n* Shape and collaborate with each department, to align company goals\n* Pursue new opportunities, develop partnerships and strive to push the company forward\n* Make important, key decisions\n* International travel\n\nRequirements:\n\n* Proven managerial experience in Ocean Freight /Marine Logistics \n* Managed a team in a customs-clearing environment\n* Have a high level of operational exposure to Sea freight Export and Cross-trade shipments (project/capital equipment shipments would be advantageous)\n* Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team\n* Demonstrate expertise in business strategy and operations\n* Be able to communicate effectively with clients, suppliers and wider team\n* Develop trust and respect from colleagues & clients alike\n* The availability to travel internationally\n\nBenefits:\n\n* Salary up to £80,000\n* The chance to travel internationally\n* Flexible working\n* Additional earning potential based on company and individual performance\n* The opportunity to shape the direction of the UK operation, to be heard and respected to make bold decisions\n* Health insurance\n* Generous holiday entitlement\n\n#marine logistics #operations manager #marine transport #senior management #senior operations manager WR Logistics are the #1 recruitment partner for all vacancies in the logistics industry.
