International Project/Construction Management Firm is seeking a General Superintendent for the following location:
- St. George area (near Zion), commute to site locations in Zion
Construction Management & Development, Inc. (CM&D) is currently seeking an experienced individual with recent demonstrated experience in high-end hospitality construction. They will be responsible for the delivery of a fast-track renovation of a Visitor’s Center in Zion National Park. The General Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to manage multiple subcontractors and maintain budget, schedule, quality control and site safety. They will work with the Project Management team, under the supervision of the Project Executive.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
a) Responsible for managing groups of sub-contractors, tradesmen, and laborers in the execution of projects from start to finish which may include, but are not limited to, assisting with designing and estimating, and ordering of materials.
b) Determines work priorities, and coordinates work activities with all necessary parties to ensure that the project remains efficient and on schedule.
c) Must be a team player and maintain a quality team environment; responsible for assisting Project Executive and Project Manager.
d) Act as a communication liaison between employer, the client, and sub-contractors; maintain satisfactory relationships with client and hotel operator.
e) Works as a liaison to the owner and coordinates plans and construction activities with the owner and hotel operator.
f) Manage strict timelines and schedules to facilitate meeting daily and weekly goals.
g) Responsible for quality control on the project. Holds all works accountable for adherence to the project plans and specifications and client’s quality expectations. Holds pre-installations meetings to review installation procedures for all major materials used and has a thorough understanding of the project specifications and industry standards for installation of all materials to be used. Assures that the work adheres to the project plans, specifications, codes, and other governmental agencies requirements. Coordinates inspections and ensures that testing is being performed per the contract documents.
h) Conduct daily and weekly meetings to include, but not limited to:
a. Pre and post-construction meetings;
b. Daily and weekly production meetings;
c. Weekly safety meetings.
i) Conduct hands on training for assistants and laborers in relation to the task at hand.
j) Conduct documented pre-existing damage inspections.
k) Comprise daily and weekly plans and actions.
l) Accountability and inventory of all equipment and supplies as related to all facets of a renovation.
m) Responsible for compliance with hotel’s restrictions and code of conduct during construction/renovation.
n) Know the procedures for emergency evacuations and be prepared to assist the client should the need arise.
o) Maintain site documentation in an organized manner.
p) Other duties as required.
SKILLS, CAPABILITIES, AND QUALIFICATIONS
a) Must have strong knowledge in all areas of construction and renovation of hospitality projects.
b) Must be able to multi-task.
c) Experience in supervising concurrent projects within one project.
d) Previous schedule management is essential.
e) Must be familiar with the use of hand and power tools related to construction and general construction practices.
f) Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a supervisory construction position, ideally in Utah and/or national parks.
g) Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the hospitality construction/renovation field.
h) Must be capable of reading and understanding blueprints, specifications, engineering reports, etc.
i) Prolog and MS Project preferred.
j) Attention to detail and must be extremely organized.
k) Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
l) Flexibility to handle shifting priorities and situations, strong project coordination skills.
Requirements:
REQUIRED:
Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Must have excellent writing and typing skills, be computer literate and capable of using multiple applications including but not limited to MS Office365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Project; Cloud-based Filesharing (Eg. Box, Egynyte, Sharepoint); Construction Management apps (Procore, Egnyte, BuilderTrend, etc); and general Internet.
Must be located near St. George area, or relocate at own expense.

PREFERRED:
A graduate degree or project management certification is a plus.
15 years previous construction experience with master plan residential, health, or high rise projects is preferable.
