Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist
Job Description
Our client is one of the largest multidisciplinary partnerships in the UK providing engineering and design consultancy services with innovative, cost-effective and sustainable solutions for challenging environments\n\nDue to an increasing forward workload, they are currently looking to appoint an experienced Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist position within the Edinburgh Team.\n\nThe successful candidate will have a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of projects spanning the renewables, transportation, industrial, retail, residential and commercial sectors.\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\nData collection, manipulation and interpretation of both geotechnical and geo-chemical data as part of site investigations for wide range of schemes\n\nPreparation of Geotechnical Desk Studies, Interpretative Reports and Specifications\n\nDesign, Procurement and Supervision of Site Investigations.\n\nUndertake geotechnical analysis and design e.g. slope stability, settlement assessments and foundation and retaining wall design\n\nManagement of multiple projects\n\nManagement and Technical oversight of Junior team members\n\nPreparation of proposals and input into Tenders\n\nQUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE\n\n * Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology\n\n * Experience in the design, specification and management of ground investigation works\n\n * Proven experience in geotechnical design to UK Eurocodes as part of a multi-disciplinary projects\n\n * Experience undertaking geotechnical design works for shallow and deep foundations, piling works, earthworks, slope stability and retaining walls.\n\n * Preparation of geotechnical reports, including desk studies, Ground Investigation Reports, and Geotechnical Design Reports.\n\n * Preparation of specification and drawings for construction works.\n\n * Experience in the use of geotechnical design software, ie OASYS suite or equivalent\n\n * Preparation of estimates and input into tender submissions\n\n * Mentoring and training of Junior staff\n\nSuccessful candidates must have a flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a dynamic team, and have the confidence to deliver challenging projects and support the development of junior staff.\n\nThe current permanent employment opportunity offers a competitive salary and excellent flexible benefits package for permanent staff which includes training opportunities, reimbursement of professional fees, contributory pension, personal health care plan and life insurance, interest-free travel loan scheme, additional leave purchase and buy-back scheme, staff loyalty bonus
