The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Director to assist in leading our geotechnical engineering team. This position could be based out of either our New York, NY or Philadelphia, PA offices. The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of our communities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and management of a broad range of projects for both our municipal and private sector clients.
  • Manage multiple projects and oversee technical and field staff.
  • Manage both technical and financial elements of projects for private and public clients, as well as project scheduling and staffing.
  • Manage staff working in Geotechnical Engineering software packages (i.e.: APile, LPile, WEAP, Slide, Plaxis/MidaSoft).

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (a master’s degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus).
  • 15+ years of experience.
  • NYS or PA PE required; however, applicants with PE Licensure in other states will be required to obtain NYS Licensure within 6-12 months of hire.
  • Deep knowledge of IBC-based building codes.
  • Extensive experience with subsurface explorations, related analyses and reporting, design development and construction document support, and construction-related Special Inspections.
  • Excellent client relationships and experience in business development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail and organizational ability.

Compensation will range from $145K to $200K, and commensurate with experience.
