As the Global EHS Sr Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful development and implementation of key strategic initiatives and practices targeted at improving safety management systems and compliance for Micron Technology, Inc., operations globally. The successful candidate will provide leadership, direction, education, and overall strategic management of the company’s safety management system and initiatives related to safety and compliance. The Global EHS Sr Safety Engineer will provide technical regulatory guidance/advice to the sites, staff, and senior management on best practices, safety and regulatory development matters related to the semiconductor industry.Primary Job Responsibilities Include:Provide leadership, direction, and education of key strategic initiatives targeted at improving safety culture and complianceDevelop, implement, and monitor company safety programs and policiesLead implementation of safety industry best practiceImplement management system criteria programs and business processes across the Micron networkPerform compliance audits and support implementation of follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with country, state and local regulationsRespond to emergencies and investigate incidents and recommends corrective actionResolve complex compliance matters, including use of required data and management systemsAnalyze data in compliance with current regulations, standards/policies and make appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring incidentsAssure accuracy of reports and permits for compliance with country, state, and local regulationsMay provide leadership to less experienced engineers and to techniciansMay act as lead person or technical advisor on projectsPromote and implement Micron’s EHS PolicyAccept other duties as assignedQualifications:Extensive experience with hazard assessments, risk data analysis and root cause investigationExperience in building safety culture programs for sites across multiple geographiesStrong technical expertise in safety program management and EHS Management Systems, in multi-national corporationsDemonstrated ability to comfortably work across organizational boundaries and geographiesAbility to effectively collaborate with cross-functional organizations to understand needs and translate them into actionable plans, deliverables, and resource requirementsAbility to be guided by business objectives and determine best methods for delivering resultsDemonstrated proficiency in independently completing complex tasksExcellent interpersonal and customer service skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to adapt to a rapidly changing environmentStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProven facilitation skills including the ability to influence othersFluent computer skills including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and ExcelEducation Required:Minimum of a degree in Occupational Health Safety, or another relevant degreeExperience Required:Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience including demonstrated experience with safety management systems, fatality prevention programs and incident investigationSemiconductor experienceThe ability to read and develop a solid understanding and interpretation of regulations is requiredAbility to develop global programs and deploy to a multi-cultural audienceStrong interpersonal communicationEffective negotiation skillsProficiency in technical writingStrong team player skills
