An Exciting Opportunity:

We are looking for a dynamic Global Process Design Engineer who will be responsible for the identification of process improvement projects in the manufacturing and packaging operations that will drive efficiency/automation and continuous improvement throughout all sites. This position will be a great opportunity for someone who is hands on and creative and enjoys solving problems, designing and building solutions. To be successful in this position, the right candidate will work hand in hand with operations and will take pride in designing and implementing practical solutions. This opportunity would place the right candidate on a path to become our Plant Manager.

Initiatives you will champion:

Process Engineering:

  • Drive continuous improvements in quality, yield, reliability cost, process stability / capability, and productivity.
  • Manage the implementation of projects from concept development, establishment of project team(s), basic engineering, process transfer and optimization, technical and economic evaluation of alternatives, scope definition and control, estimating, scheduling, development of Appropriation Request, cost and schedule compliance, detailed engineering and design, compliance, safety and environmental standards and procedures, permit applications, compliance with cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), procurement of goods and services, commissioning, qualification and validation.
  • Accountable for meeting all process improvement scope requirements, including design capacity, completing project rollout/implementation within the scheduled time frame and completing within budget, etc.
  • Be the liaison between any applicable contractor and Spectrum for new equipment implementation, working in close cooperation with the Operations team, for design work or other support functions performed by an outside firm.
  • Ensure that all the required resources are identified and available for process operations projects.
  • Ensure all operations processes comply with safety and quality standards
  • Develop standardized operating instructions, performance standards and Standard Operating Procedures for all Operations processes
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with the many support groups within the Corporation in order to obtain timely input of their requirements into the projects and their assistance in project execution.
  • Participate in Project Steering Committees and function as focal point between Project Teams and Steering Committee on project issues and decisions.
  • Provide management with updated analysis and projections on the status of process operations projects focusing on management of change, schedule compliance, cost control and major project highlights in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but is required to influence and lead cross functional Project teams.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or University in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Master’s Degree .
  • 8 - 10 years’ experience in Process Engineering with proven results in a manufacturing engineering setting.
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills with leadership ability and a good team player.
  • You expect accountability of yourself and others and exhibit dependability in delivering on assigned tasks with quality and timeliness.
  • Experience in process driven operations; chemical down packing experience highly desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines.
  • Solid knowledge of cGMP, FDA and other applicable regulations.
  • Demonstrated history of identifying and implementing process operations improvements that resulted in significant gains in operational efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of process automation, programmable logic controllers, power systems, and controls highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing knowledge and expertise.
  • Knowledge of federal and state health and safety regulation.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing automation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of statistical concepts/methods, as well as process optimization techniques (i.e. waste elimination, parts flow, pull, etc.) as well as Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Strong professional acumen, and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven project management skills and expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead without direct authority
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Experience with cGMP and FDA manufacturing is a plus.
  • PMP certification
