Global Product Line Manager – Power Grid Automation

Reporting to the Vice President Marketing, this position will be based in Bolingbrook, IL (Chicago Area) and will lead the driving of the product and go to market strategy for power grid automation solutions through G&W Electric’s switchgear portfolio

As a Global Product Line Manager you will:

  • Drive empathic understanding of market and application requirements through VOC and market analysis.
  • Productize the offerings from power grid automation to facilitate selling and the creation of a product strategy, road maps, and go-to-market strategies.
  • Development of the long-term vision / strategy (5-Year+) of the Power Grid Automation product family
  • Create and implement a strategic plan to help grow LaZer Automation business significantly in excess of market growth through development and implementation of an Automation product road map.
  • Create and implement a plan to monitor and increase the income and gross margin for the product line.
  • Perform a comprehensive assessment of existing product line and modify it to ensure it is competitive in the marketplace relative to cost, competitors’ products, features, functions and benefits.
  • Evaluate competitive product features, pricing, and positioning and develop “how to sell” materials and training for the field sales organization.
  • Apply a ‘CEO mentality’ approach to the power grid automation product line; Collaborate with sales and marketing to drive sales bookings and champion improvement areas that would drive product line performance.
  • Manage the implementation of the global product line strategic plan to prioritize and maximize company and product line profitability and investments.
  • Analyze competitive landscape threats, opportunities, and market and technology trends.
  • Champion support to achieve product line objectives through cross-functional team engagement.
  • Partner with the marketing team to conduct market studies, including VOC to understand new/adjacent market opportunities and assess viability.
  • Engage with and partner with sales leadership in strategy development and execution of sales plans.
  • Facilitating new product business cases and stage gate deliverables.
  • Manage Go-to-Market strategies for existing and new products.
  • Analyzing market data to meet regional needs while supporting strategic portfolio offerings and company goals.
  • Collaborate with the Field Application Engineering (FAE) and Business Development Manager (BDM) teams in the cohesive development of product and channel strategies.
  • Manage Power Grid Automation Engineering team working to execute day to day engineering tasks.
  • Have a concentration of effort split between the following:
    • Strategic: 40%
    • Commercial / Business Development: 30%
    • Technical: 15%
    • Tactical: 15%

We are looking for someone with:

  • 5-10 years’ leadership experience in Automation and Product Management or Business function
  • A Business Degree and experience with technical products or BSEE with business experience or BSME with business experience
    • An MBA could be a positive, but not mandatory – focus is on practical work experience
  • Strong team leadership; Motivational; Excellent team building skills;
  • Results oriented & driven while simultaneously earning trust and building relationships
  • A proven track record of strategy development and execution
  • Evidence of good organizational skills with history of handling multiple tasks within a rapid paced environment
  • Deep experience working with and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Effective presentation skills; Good “people” skills; Can adapt to both internal and external customers; Customer facing presence is required;
  • Electrical industry, power industry, or utility experience is a benefit, but not mandatory
  • Multinational company experience is considered a positive
  • Good problem-solving skills / root cause analysis
  • Fluency in English with other a positive
  • Proficiency in all MS Office platforms commensurate with the responsibilities of the position
  • The ability to travel: 30% regionally and internationally as business needs dictate

What we offer you:

Typical pay is $128,700 – 170,500 annually.

This position is eligible for participation in our Quarterly Incentive Pay Program
