As part of the Orion Program team of engineers you'll have the opportunity to work on the Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Propulsion (GNCP) systems of the Orion spacecraft, which will carry astronauts around the Moon and pave the way for human exploration of Mars and beyond.

CFD Research is seeking a Guidance, Navigation, Control, Propulsion (GNCP) Flight Software (FSW) Verification Engineer to develop test scripts to perform formal requirement verification of Orion's Artemis II GNCP (Guidance, Navigation, Control, Propulsion) FSW (Flight Software).

What you'll be doing:

  • Develop, execute, and analyze software tests to validate the GNCP FSW for the Orion spacecraft.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure proper integration and functionality of software with GNCP subsystems.
  • Use Python to automate test scripts and support software validation efforts.
  • Document test plans, results, and any identified issues, providing feedback to development teams.
  • Support verification and validation activities for mission-critical software, ensuring compliance with performance and safety requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Various years of experience in software testing and software development are considered
  • Experience with software testing, including test planning, execution, and debugging.
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with complex software systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Matlab and Simulink for modeling and simulation.
  • Familiarity with Guidance, Navigation, Control, and Propulsion (GNCP) systems or aerospace-related systems.
  • Experience in software verification and validation for safety-critical systems.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with an ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Location: This position will be onsite. Some telework may be allowed.
