The Mechanical Technology & Development (T&D) team is responsible for the development of mechatronic modules and systems, with a strong focus on mechanical engineering. We aim to leverage the latest and most advanced mechanical technologies, fully integrated into our system development process. Currently, there is a vacancy for a Group Lead Mechanical Development. Responsibilities: Team Management: You will manage and inspire a team of professionals who are dedicated to improving, growing, and exploring new areas of expertise within the field of mechanical engineering. Your team will consist of a mix of talented individuals, experts, competence owners, integrators, and architects. Project Coordination: Initiate and coordinate outsourcing projects and maintain relationships with development partners to ensure successful mechanical development projects. Customer Engagement: Collaborate closely with customers to present and justify your mechanical design choices, and involve them in crucial development activities and decisions. Building strong customer relationships is pivotal. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work alongside project managers, group leads, and engineers from other T&D competence groups to achieve seamless integration and success in projects. International Customer Base: VDL ETG serves international customers in high-tech industries, including Semicon, Solar, and Medical. Your role involves maintaining contacts with existing and new customers to uphold product quality and adopt cutting-edge mechanical technologies. Competency Growth and Recruitment: Take charge of competency growth and recruitment within your group. This includes identifying talent and fostering the development of mechanical competencies within your team. Review and Release: Assume responsibility for the review and release of mechanical deliverables, ensuring they meet required quality and standards. Qualifications: Educational Background: A master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is essential to meet the educational criteria. Experience: You should have a minimum of five to ten years of experience in a leadership position within a high-end multidisciplinary development environment, specifically in mechanical engineering. Technological Awareness: Stay updated with the latest mechanical technologies and demonstrate a strong drive to apply them in your projects. Proactive and Analytical: Possess a proactive and analytical mindset, coupled with a "can-do" attitude to tackle complex mechanical challenges and drive innovation within your team. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills in both English and Dutch are vital for collaborating with an international customer base and various teams within the organization. Quality Assurance: Experience with quality assurance and reliability in mechanical engineering is a valuable asset, highlighting your attention to detail and commitment to quality. This position is based within the VDL ETG T&D organization in Eindhoven, focusing on the development of high-tech mechatronic modules and systems with a strong mechanical engineering component for customers across multiple industries. All this takes place under one roof. The high-tech production facility is equipped with state of the art machinery to produce any designed product. The Technology & Development department consists of a number of competence groups, such as Mechanics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Flow & Thermal, Software and Project management. In multi-disciplinary project teams we specify, design, develop and qualify the professional products for our customers.
