Our client is on the lookout for a highly skilled individual to lead their Civil and Infrastructure Engineering team in the heart of London. This full-time role is set to start in January 2025.
You will join an award-winning practice known for innovative solutions and collaboration with some of the UK's leading architects and clients. About the Role
This is a unique opportunity to lead a growing discipline in a fast-evolving company, supporting their expanding structures team on building projects while also developing and managing your own workstream. The successful candidate will have an interest in business operations and will work closely with the Directors to drive strategic growth within the firm.
Key Skills and Requirements
Chartered with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
Proven experience in line management and leadership.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to lead, manage, and mentor a team, helping them achieve their full potential.
Highly organized with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
A track record of nurturing client relationships and securing repeat business (client reference may be required).
Experience in business development and successful pitching for new clients.
Proficient in preparing proposals and managing contract variations.
Strong experience in managing resourcing, budgets, and project timelines.
Advanced technical knowledge of drainage and highway design.
A keen interest in sustainable design and product innovation.
Advanced proficiency with design software, with a demonstrated ability to optimize the design process for efficiency.
Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Strong conflict resolution skills, both internally and externally.
Understanding of quality control systems.
Along with your technical ability, they need a candidate who is personable, enjoys working collaboratively and possesses strong analytical and software skills to deliver top-tier engineering on a diverse range of projects, from single-unit homes to large, complex developments (1500+ units).
Experience Required
The successful applicant must have demonstrable experience in delivering projects that include:
Below ground drainage design (foul and surface water) including hydraulic modelling.
SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) design, such as basins, permeable paving, blue/green roofs, attenuation tanks, etc.
External works, including levels, build-ups, and cut and fill.
Retrofitting existing drainage networks and designing sitewide infrastructure.
Preparing Drainage Statements and Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) for all flood zones.
Designing private roads to adoptable standards, including 3D modelling of levels, alignments, and gradients.
Vehicle tracking.
Liaising with local authorities to secure agreements for drainage and highways (S278/38, S104/185/106).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroDrainage/Flow software.
