Position Overview:
The Head of Construction will be a senior leadership role within The Bellepoint Company responsible for leading and developing teams, with a strong ability to inspire, motivate, and drive performance. In addition to people leadership responsibilities, the Head of Construction will own overseeing and managing all construction operations and people, including spec, contract, and warranty. This position will require a highly skilled individual with a strong background in residential construction and project management, along with the ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams. The Head of Construction will drive the successful completion of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, all while ensuring clear communication and alignment across departments such as design, finance, sales, and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of construction professionals.
- Build a high-performance culture within the construction department, fostering collaboration, continuous improvement, and accountability.
- Support team members through project oversight and eliminate barriers to ensure the success of projects
Lead Construction Projects
- Oversee all aspects of residential construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring projects are executed to Bellepoint's high standards of quality, on schedule, and within budget.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets, utilizing effective project management techniques and software. Ensure that construction milestones are met and that the project stays on track from start to finish.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all internal teams, including Design, Finance, Sales, and Executive Leadership. Ensure seamless coordination between departments to optimize project outcomes and address any issues or concerns that arise.
- Anticipate and resolve any challenges or risks that may arise during the construction process.
- Proactively identify potential issues and implement solutions to minimize delays or cost overruns.
Quality Control and Safety
- Implement and enforce stringent quality control processes, ensuring that all work meets Bellepoint's high standards.
- Monitor and enforce safety protocols on all job sites to ensure the safety and well-being of all workers and subcontractors.
Vendor and Subcontractor Management
- Build relationships and partner with Vendor Management teams to ensure the Construction Team is held accountable for enforcing contract terms and meeting expectations for all subcontracted work.
Financial Oversight
- Work closely with the Finance department to prepare and manage project budgets, track costs, and ensure that financial targets are met.
- Proactively identify potential financial risks and escalate to appropriate leaders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field. Additional certifications or training in project management (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in residential construction management, with a strong track record of successfully managing large-scale projects. Proven experience in project management is essential.
- Skills:
- Experience in leading and developing teams, with a strong ability to inspire, motivate, and drive performance.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, Microsoft Project) and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners, clients, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions under pressure.
- Solutions-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards across all aspects of construction.
- Understanding of construction budgets, cost estimation, and financial management, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- A deep understanding of construction safety protocols, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
