Head of Product Engineering, Fast-Growing HealthTech
- Permanent Role, Hybrid (3x a week in Manchester office)
- Salary: up to £130,000 + Bonus + Benefits
We are partnering with a dynamic and rapidly growing Health technology company as they look to bring on board an experienced Head of (Product) Engineering for their UK-based engineering team. Partnering with their leadership team, you'll have a real opportunity to impact this organization as they embark on their journey to becoming known for their cutting-edge HealthTech products!
This pivotal leadership role will drive the transformation of the engineering culture, guiding a team 30-50 towards a product engineering-focused model, and will play a central part in shaping the future of both products and technologies as part of a broader "tech-first mindset" strategy. This is an exciting time to join the business as it scales following a series of strategic acquisitions.
Combining both strategy and technical excellence, this position will require someone who has expertise in fostering a strong engineering culture, with a people-first mindset, but also has a track record of working within software engineering roles within product development environments.
Role Purpose:
- Lead and scale a high-performing engineering team focused on product development and innovation.
- Drive cultural change and engineering excellence across the UK engineering team.
- Set clear performance goals, foster an inclusive team culture, and drive the team to maintain high standards of technical quality and operational efficiency.
- Align the engineering roadmap with business goals and help the business move towards its ambition of becoming a “tech-first” organization.
- Play a key role in delivering high-quality off-the-shelf products through technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Oversee the successful delivery of product features, technical solutions, and customer implementations.
- Ensure alignment of engineering practices, tools, and methods with the Technology Strategy across other areas (APAC).
- Provide technical guidance and leadership while ensuring the team is equipped to meet their goals and deliver world-class products.
About you:
- Degree in Computer Science, or a related field (or relevant experience).
- Extensive experience in product development lifecycle and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Proven experience in product organizations, with a focus on development of off-the-shelf products.
- Experience driving culture within an engineering function of 30-50 engineers, ideally after mergers/acquisitions.
- Strong technical background in software engineering (Java, AWS, microservices architecture).
- Expertise in cloud environments and transitioning on-premise products to the cloud.
- Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with experience managing and developing diverse engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of security, scalability, and performance optimization within engineering solutions.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure.
