Head of Mechanical and Piping

OLG are currently hiring a Head of Mechanical & Piping.Your responsibilities will include the following: Sourcing and executing work for the departmentBID management, completion of tenders and building of cost estimatesContinuous monitoring of staff requirementsAttracting and retaining talent through effective recruitment, mentoring and trainingMonitor progress of jobs within the department, ensuring they deliver to the required quality, timescale and budgetMonitor progress and performance of all personnel within the department to assure quality of work product and ensure continuity of design methodsTraining and competencies of department personnelInitiate, review, and approve routine performance appraisalsDemonstrate customer focusBe a technical expert, setting design specifications on projects and driving technical assurance and safety by designEnsure OLG Engineering procedures, specifications, standards, technical guidance and work instructions are followedReview and approve timesheets, holidays and expenses for departmental personalWorking closely with other departments, including the fabrication and operations teamsUndertake inspection reportsUndertake Constructability reviews and review design risk registers to ensure safe efficient designs are delivered by OLG EngineeringAct as client’s engineer and technical authorityProvides technical support to Project group.Attends to internal review activities and inter-discipline check meetings. KeySkills (e.g. relevant qualifications, experience, knowledge): Evidence of work winningExperience of working in a multi-discipline environment and an EPC environmentAbility to estimate design & engineering hours and fabrication & installation budgetsProven track record of building & retaining dynamic engineering teamsProficient in design using tools such as Autocad Plant 3D, creation of cats and specs, Navisworks Manage / Clash detection and chairing model reviewsGood working knowledge of AMSE codes B31.3 / 4, standards & specifications. BS EN 13480, PED / PERMinimum of 10-15 years post graduate trainingChartered With IMechE with a design engineering bias Key Competencies: Accepts ownership, is accountable and delivers on commitmentsSelf-motivated with no supervision, but works effectively as part of a multi-discipline teamTechnical ExpertBusiness driven
