About the opportunity The Victorian Government’s North East Link Program is Victoria’s biggest road project that will fix the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network. The project will connect the Eastern Freeway to the M80 Ring Road with new twin tunnels, taking 15,000 trucks a day off local roads, slashing travel times by up to 35 minutes and create new open spaces and walking and cycling connections for local communities. The project includes a massive overhaul of the Eastern Freeway, creating new express lanes and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway with two new park and ride facilities improving access to public transport in the eastern suburbs.   Laing O’Rourke are working with North East Link Program, Symal, Arcadis and WSP to develop and deliver value-for-money engineering solutions for North East Link Program’s South Package, which includes Eastern Freeway upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road including major bridge upgrades, road upgrades, lane duplications, a new interchange connecting to the North East Link Tunnels and new and upgraded walking and cycling connections and open spaces. About the role We are currently seeking a Health And Safety Advisor to join us on the Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram Alliance. This is your opportunity to contribute to the largest ever investment in Melbourne's Eastern Freeway network.  You will support the implementation of the projects Health & Safety Management Plan and ensure “best for project” outcomes are achieved.  Key responsibilities Assist in the implementation of the Health and Safety Management Plan and all associated sub-plans. Play an active part in the ongoing implementation and development of the EBTA culture, and continually live by and champion the Alliance values. Work closely with Alliance Health and Safety and Delivery teams to ensure the effective implementation, support and monitoring of Health and Safety requirements across the Alliance. Proactively deal with OHS challenges and concerns, by actively engaging with the people performing the task or activity. Complete incident investigations up to and including actual class 2, and complete detailed incident reports. Assist in the facilitation of risk assessment workshops and other key risk planning forums. Ensure expected OHS standards are understood and upheld across the Alliance About you Diploma in OHS or working toward one with prior major infrastructure construction experience preferable ICAM lead investigator training preferable Ability to utilise different IT systems i.e. Microsoft office suite. Ability to understand and interpret project / industry related documents. Skilled in applying specialist technical OHS related knowledge. The ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely in writing for a variety of audiences. Strong ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a diverse range of Alliance stakeholders. Posses a strong understanding of your own emotional intelligence and that in others.
