O'Neill and Brennan are working with a leading contractor to recruit a Health and Safety Advisor for Cambridge



The Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our employees. By implementing effective safety policies, conducting thorough inspections, and providing comprehensive training, the Safety Specialist helps create a safe work environment where accidents are minimized.



This Health and Safety Advisor position requires strong analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis, as well as the ability to provide basic first aid when necessary. Additionally, excellent report writing skills are essential for documenting safety activities.

Health and Safety Advisor Duties:

- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Company and HSE policy.

- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.

- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop strategies for prevention.

- Provide safety training to employees on topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and personal protective equipment.

- Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, and training activities.



- Maintaining our Fleet and ISO management systems.

- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.



Health and Safety AdvisorSkills:

- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.

- Proficient in conducting root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of accidents or incidents

- Familiarity with first aid procedures and ability to provide basic first aid when necessary

- Excellent report writing skills to document safety inspections, incident investigations, and training activities

- Strong communication skills to effectively train employees on safety procedures and policies

- Attention to detail to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate control measures



-Pervious experience in construction is mandatory.



Health and Safety Advisor  Essential requirements



NEBOSH general certificate, or equivalent

CEnv, or equivalent

Minimum 5 years experience within a civil engineering environment

Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills

Client facing experience Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations

High standard of written English

Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines

Good knowledge on ISO (phone number removed) & 45001 accreditations and maintenance of each Management system.

Good communication skills, including professional telephone manner

Ability to liaise with staff and operatives at all levels

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package

CSCS Safety Professional card

Ability to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone High quality standards, e.g. attention to detail

Ability to lead by/set a good example
