About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the highest health and safety standards across our groundworks and civil engineering projects. You’ll work closely with site teams, ensuring compliance, conducting inspections, and fostering a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Assist in the development and review of Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
- Provide health & safety advice to site teams, supervisors, and management
- Support accident investigations and report findings with recommendations for improvement
- Ensure full compliance with CDM regulations, HASAWA, LOLER, PUWER, and other industry standards
- Deliver toolbox talks, briefings, and safety training to operatives and management
- Assist with the development of HSE policies, procedures, and best practices
- Monitor subcontractor compliance and review their safety documentation
- Support the continuous improvement of health & safety culture within the company
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Health & Safety Advisor role within groundworks and civil engineering
- Strong understanding of CDM regulations and industry best practices
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (mandatory)
- CSCS Card (relevant category - mandatory)
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, report writing, auditing systems)
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Full UK Driving Licence (travel to sites required)
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 5 or higher in Occupational Health & Safety
- Temporary Works training
- Appointed Person CPCS
- L3 AET / Trainer qualification
