Health & Safety Specialist

My client is seeking a dedicated individual to join their dynamic Health & Safety Team, a team that continues to expand. We are in search of a technical expert specialising in safety and compliance, who will take charge of providing strategic insights and expertise in lift and water safety across the entire organisation, focusing on both current and future assets with a forward-thinking perspective.



Working collaboratively with the Head of Building Safety and Compliance, as well as closely with Safety and Compliance Specialists, the Building Safety Compliance and Standards Manager, and the Building Safety and Compliance Administration team, your role will be instrumental in establishing effective management controls to mitigate risks and uphold responsibilities concerning building safety.



Key Responsibilities:



Demonstrate strong leadership in all facets of lift and water hygiene-related activities, leveraging substantial technical expertise and hands-on experience in repairs/maintenance, comprehensive knowledge of water hygiene risk assessments and lift servicing, and adept contract management and problem-solving skills.



Prioritize delivering optimal outcomes for our customers in a secure and timely manner.



Assume the role of the designated authority for sewage treatment plants, lifts, and water hygiene building safety and compliance, ensuring SHA's adherence to regulatory and legislative obligations while providing competent guidance.



Define data prerequisites, policies, and standards, and guide their implementation, while staying abreast of pertinent legislation for data set reviews, identifying implications, and effecting necessary actions.



Scrutinize requested modifications against existing system specifications, identifying potential overlaps, and resolving associated issues.



Escalate data concerns or breaches to Data Entity Owners.



Hold overall accountability for data related to Building (Asset) Safety and Compliance, specifically within lifts and water hygiene domains, as outlined in data landscape.



Ideal Candidate Profile:



Evident familiarity and experience in managing lift and water hygiene matters within the Housing Sector.



Profound technical and practical grasp of lifts, enabling the identification and assessment of defects and their significance.



Certified in IOSH Managing.



Adept in Lift Awareness, with a specialization in passenger/goods lifts and understanding of LOLER regulations.



Well-versed in LOLER/PUWER regulations.



Accomplished in LEIA Practical Management of a Lift/Escalator Contract, encompassing both commercial and on-site aspects.



Possesses technical expertise in mechanical water systems and understanding of bacteria within water.



Meets LCA Competency assessment criteria.



Holds LCA 9010 City and Guilds accredited responsible person training, adept in Risk assessment of Water Safety for both hot and cold-water systems.



Previous experience in an authorised role of responsibility, backed by city & guild accreditation.
