Electrical Engineer
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with experience designing and integrating high voltage systems for industry sectors such as petrochemicals, terminals, refining, power industry, manufacturing, data centers, healthcare, medical.
This person will need to have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and clients when discussing projects, while focusing on innovative ways to improve workflows, optimize projects tasks and enhancing technical solutions for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the design and integration of high voltage electrical components, protection systems, grounding and bonding systems, and manage harmonics and transients within utility substations.
- Specify, size, and select high voltage breakers, transformers, switchgear, cables, and surge arrestors.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and integrators to generate quotes, validate specifications, conduct factory acceptance tests, and ensure timely delivery of components.
- Conduct load flow and short circuit analysis to ensure proper system planning, operation, protection, and stability, and perform grid connection studies, including interconnection agreements and grid code compliance.
- Design and integrate renewable energy sources and high voltage battery energy storage systems (BESS) into existing systems to enhance grid stability and optimize energy use.
- Ensure designs and implementations comply with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including environmental regulations specific to renewable energy projects.
- Develop and direct internal testing procedures (ITPs) for high voltage testing, condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, and oversee the commissioning of systems to ensure they meet design specifications.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with high voltage integration, particularly in renewable energy projects.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers or technicians on high voltage systems and renewable energy integration.
Technical Skills:
- At least 7+ years of experience in utility power distribution, particularly with high voltages such as 69 kV, 138 kV, and 230 kV.
- Familiarity with renewable energy integration.
- Working knowledge of the Electric Safety Code (NESC).
- Working knowledge of the Electric Code (NEC).
- Familiarity with Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.
- Proficiency in SKM or ETAP software.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering ().
- Professional Engineer (PE) certification ().
