Purpose of the Role:

The Civil Litigation Solicitor collaborates with the Head of Department on high-profile legal cases across all levels of civil courts in England and Wales.

To provide advice on a wide range of legal matters, representing the Company in dealings with developers, landlords, opponents, legal counsel, and key public sector bodies.

The role involves handling a range of commercial disputes, advising Senior Managers and internal teams on potential risks and ongoing legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a diverse caseload in the County Court, First-tier Tribunal, and Upper Tribunal, including mediations and ADR.

Handle cases under the Housing Act 1988, Housing Act 1985, and the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.

Address matters involving breach of contract, debt claims, negligence, employment issues, and Judicial Reviews.

Litigate on issues such as dilapidations, planning breaches, rent reviews, forfeiture, and possession.

Resolve breach allegations, access issues, and sensitive information disclosures.

Research case law and provide strategic litigation advice to the Head of Department and colleagues.

Ensure compliance with internal procedures and service level agreements.

Participate in training sessions and meet agreed targets, managing files and time effectively.

Required Skills:

Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales.

Minimum 3 years experience in commercial contract negotiation, drafting, and advising.

Strong legal research skills and experience handling high-volume requests.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.

Experience collaborating within a team and engaging with multiple stakeholders.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Skilled in managing shared inboxes and legal administration tasks.

Excellent written and verbal communication, including a professional telephone manner.

Solution-focused, proactive, and able to work independently.

Organised, detail-oriented, and able to meet strict deadlines.
