Astute's Power team are working exclusively with a new entrant to the UK market who are a people driven Green Energy company. Across the UK they have acquired a fleet of Waste to Energy & Biomass plants, including the South Clyde Energy Centre currently under construction in Glasgow. Gren operate across Northern Europe, focusing on power , district heating (and cooling) and industrial energy services.
Gren aim to reduce carbon emissions, enhance energy efficiency and support the shift towards cleaner, more reliable energy systems.\n\nAs part of their £1b investment into the UK market, they are looking to appoint a Health, Safety, Security & Environmental Manager to improve HSSE practices across the fleet, including it's contractors. This will involve meeting with O&M contractors, investors and the leadership team to drive compliance and innovate across a fleet of Power Stations. \n\nWe are looking ideally for someone with a background in Power who is passionate about maintaining and improving HSSE standards and has a proven record of driving a positive culture.\n\nIf you have the relevant experience (please see below) and are looking for a rewarding role in the Power sector, then please apply.\n\nResponsibilities and duties:\n Reporting to the Head of Operations, as HSSE Manager you will be responsible for:\nPromote and uphold a positive culture and high standards across all activities within the organization.\nCollaborate with colleagues across the broader Gren Group, consolidating data and meeting ongoing targets, including any legislative requirements.\nDevelop and enhance the HSE management system for Gren UK, with the goal of achieving ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 accreditation within the next three years.\nLead key risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks within the business.\nImplement a robust hazard and incident reporting system throughout the organization.\nActively challenge the business and colleagues to drive continuous improvement in HSE standards.\nUse personal influence to ensure that all HSE key performance indicators are met across the organization.\nPartner with site and project teams to maintain best-in-class safety performance for every asset.\nReport on the overall safety performance of the business to the UK management team.\nEnsure that our supply chain and partners prioritize safety, developing criteria to work with partners who share Gren UK's culture and values.\nConduct regular site audits, manage external audits, and collaborate with contractors, site teams, and employees to address remedial actions, leading hazard/incident investigations and ensuring lessons are applied.\nReview and ensure that all permit-to-work systems are effective and fit for purpose.\n\nProfessional qualifications\n We are looking for someone with the following:\nIdeally qualified with a degree in a relevant HSSE field\nNEBOSH in Health & Safety\nDetailed understanding of CDM regulations and managing HSE on large capital projects.\nUnderstanding of waste management, environmental permits, ESG practices.\n\nPersonal skills\n The HSSE Manager would suit someone who has:\nA minimum of five years of experience in an HSSE role within a Power company or a similar industry.\nProven ability to thrive in a start-up environment or to develop systems from the ground up.\nStrong passion for setting high standards and fostering a robust Health and Safety culture.\nEnergetic and dynamic approach to driving HSSE excellence.\nExceptional communication skills.\nDeep enthusiasm for low-carbon solutions within the Energy sector.\n\nSalary and benefits of the HSSE Manager role\nCompetitive Salary up to £70k per annum DOE\nBonus Opportunity\nCar Allowance\nOpportunity to join a fast growing Green Energy company\n\nINDPOWAstute People are acting as an employment agency in relation to this vacancy.
