HSE System Engineer

Overview:

The HSE System Engineer is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems across projects and operations.

This role involves working closely with HSE teams to ensure that safety protocols and environmental regulations are effectively integrated into the project lifecycle.

The HSE System Engineer will monitor compliance, conduct risk assessments, and provide technical support to improve HSE performance within the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE management systems in accordance with industry standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.

  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure HSE requirements are incorporated into design, procurement, and operational processes.

  • Perform HSE risk assessments, including hazard identification, risk analysis, and the development of risk control measures.

  • Conduct internal HSE audits, inspections, and system reviews to ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.

  • Support the development of HSE plans, procedures, and emergency response protocols.

  • Provide technical support and guidance on HSE matters to project teams, contractors, and other stakeholders.

  • Analyze HSE data, track performance metrics, and prepare reports for management review.

  • Assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Coordinate HSE training programs to ensure personnel are aware of safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance HSE systems and processes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, or a related field.

Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

  • Certification in HSE management systems such as ISO 45001 Lead Auditor or equivalent is .

  • Proficiency in HSE management software, MS Office Suite, and data analysis tools.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE systems engineering or a related role, preferably in the oil and gas, construction, or heavy industry sectors.

Technical Knowledge:

  1. HSE Management Systems: In-depth knowledge of HSE management systems, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001, with proven experience in implementing and maintaining these systems.

  2. Risk Assessment and Analysis: Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies, root cause analysis, and incident investigation processes to support the identification and mitigation of HSE risks.
