Job Description BAE Systems San Diego Ship Repair has an opening for a Human Resources Manager to lead the HR function for the Ship Repair Business Unit site in San Diego, CA.As a trusted member of the site leadership team, the San Diego site Human Resources Manager is expected to influence in all facets of HR. This role is responsible for partnering to shape business decisions through an HR lens to ensure proper consideration of people implications. Provides proactive and reactive employee relations support, manager coaching, business growth or business right sizing support while creating and shaping a culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. The ideal candidate should have experience in being able to effectively lead and influence in implementing Human Resources policies, partnering with business operations to ensure understanding of business needs and objectives and resolve all HR related issues. Key HR related areas are as follows: succession planning, talent management, talent acquisition, employee relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development. Will be responsible for driving leaders to identify top talent and succession candidates and support the succession planning process at the business unit level. Partner to ensure success by reviewing and analyzing HR metrics to monitor performance and identify actionable trends. Work with leadership to support an effective workforce plan/strategy and collaborate with talent acquisition to translate the requirements into an executable plan. Provide guidance and coaching to management in the delivery of compensation programs such as annual salary planning, incentive compensation nominations etc. Responsible to drive ethical behavior and instill a culture of Safety, Health & Environmental throughout the organization. Able to create a competitive organization by identifying efficiencies to reduce the cost of the HR service delivery model. Collaborate with the Centers of Expertise (COEs) and all elements of the HR delivery model to ensure the delivery of world class HR services and programs to address critical business needs and employ effective measures of success. Partner with assigned managers to identify top talent and succession candidates and provide support to the Management Readiness Review planning process at the business unit level. Promote business activities that support a culture that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. Collaborate with leadership to develop an effective workforce plan/strategy and collaborate with talent acquisition to translate the requirements into an executable plan. Act as a change agent for key HR and business changes and provide project management for assigned key HR projects. Able to be agile and responsive in a fast paced, quick changing environment. Should possess strong decision making skills using sound judgment.Required Education, Experience, & Skills Typically requires a Bachelors and ten (10) years experience in Human Resources, with at least five (5) years being in an HR Leadership role;Well versed in State of California HR labor law;Strong employee relations background including experience resolving federal and state employment issues including EEO/AAP. Highly effective employee relations investigations skills;Experience within a skilled trades environment;Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;A trusted advisor with a strong ability to influence. Able to provide solid counsel and influence as a site senior leader for the HR function;Computer proficiency to include MS Office Suite and industry-related software; Able to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Subject matter expertise with State of CA HR labor laws; MA Degree in Human Resources;SPHR/SHRM-SCP Certified;Bi-lingual (Spanish / English);Experience working within a shared services HR delivery model;Project management capability;Experience with PeopleSoft;Proficiency in HR data analytics.About BAE Systems Platforms & Services BAE Systems, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, an international defense, aerospace and security company which delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support services.
