
Human Resources Manager - Automotive
Our client, a global automotive manufacturer is actively looking to hire an experienced HR Manager for one of their locations in Brampton, ON POSITION SUMMARY: Develops, plans and administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activities, including but not limited to recruitment, training, performance reviews, wage surveys, benefits, administrations, etc. Directs and coordinates team of human resources. Hiring, dismissal, a) Involvement in progressive discipline from written to employee dismissal b) Maintain system for effective documentation, coaching & process of progressive discipline ii. Employee Handbook updates iii. Training & Development iv. Continuously improvement recommendations of employee relations policies/procedures • The PROCESS for identifying and obtaining the correct MANPOWER requirements for the division and assisting the departments with scheduling and training of their manpower. • The system for operating Company Open Door Process within the division, including: i. Fairness Committee ii. Employee Advocate Program iii. Educating employees and leaders on divisional open door process • The system for plant-wide internal communication, including: i. Creating and maintaining current information ii. Job posting iii. Metrics iv. Events • System for the effective operation of benefit administration, including: i. Documentation ii. Communication iii. Employee service iv. Legislative requirements • System for identifying and coordinating plant-wide social events i. Xmas parties ii. BBQ iii. Fund raising iv. Official celebrations • Provide coach and support to managers and supervisors on dealing with everyday employee issues. • System for maintaining H.R. processes for the division which comply with: i. IATF certification ii. Company H.R. Audit • System for approving/tracking manager vacations / time away from division • System for maintaining current organizational charts for the division • System for approving and tracking training for all employees within the division, including: i. System for getting approval for training ii. Systems to collect and maintain accurate training matrix from all departments iii. Documentation process a) for tracking all training b) training matrix c) renewal / re-training iv. Process for identifying and the maintenance of leader succession plan v. Coordination of apprenticeship programs vi. Coordination of delivery of training vii. Maintaining current training resources viii. Developing effective assessment processes to measure effectiveness of training • System for leader and employee performance reviews within Division, including: i. Annual performance review process ii. Processes for informal feedback and assessment of performance against job requirements • System for Divisional Leadership Training; including the measurement of the effectiveness of. • Company Reception manning/procedures/relief • System for salary and compensation • System for measuring employee satisfaction, including: i. Employee Opinion Survey and action planning process ii. Training open door issues and employee concerns iii. Other processes for accessing, analyzing and defining employee’s perceptions, ie. mini surveys, utilization of Fairness Committee and Employee Advocate, employee votes. • Ensure a safe and clean work place • Manpower requirement planning, scheduling and training • Have Succession Plan in place • Develop your team and keep team informed • Develop procedures to comply with Government, Legal, Group, Company and IATF requirements • Ensure all policies/procedures are consistently applied • Involve those departments who may be impacted by a change to a system or process your department owns • Standardized work • Plans in place for top priorities that will contribute to Company’s success • Meet your commitments; when you cannot, discuss alternative solutions with departments/people affected before deadline date • Continually improve the systems and processes your department is accountable for (to improve beyond current standard) • Correct/prevent issues that will impact a system or process (to bring it up to a specific standard) • Have methods in place to PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Adjust • Perform all duties and promote themselves in a manner that reflects the Company’s expectations, vision/values through Company’s Employee Charter. • Have the right to refuse work based on safety or health concerns. • Perform other duties as requested. • Be familiar with and follow all regulatory compliance with Company, Local, State and Federal Legislations including OSHA and ANSI standards. • Be responsible for ensuring that safe and healthy conditions are met at all locations assigned to this division. • Be responsible to ensure that there is an understanding of all health and safety rules by all employees. • Provide accountability for enforcing safety rules and implementing the necessary training and corrective actions to ensure proper focus on established objectives. • Perform workplace health and safety inspections. • Inform the appropriate people of non-conformance situations. • Facilitate Accident and Incident investigations. • Report Accidents and Incidents immediately to the appropriate person. • Review and sign all Accident and Incident investigations. • Participate in the formal evaluation process. • Play an active role in maintaining housekeeping in the area and ensure that department is clean, tidy and organized at all times. • Respond to written recommendations received from the health and safety committee within twenty-one days, documenting corrective action and target dates. • Attend regular management meetings where health and safety is a significant part of the agenda. • Attend a health and safety training program (such as due diligence, safety seminars) annually. • Report any unsafe or unhealthy conditions immediately. • Wear required PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, aprons, respirators and head protection. Appointed Member of the Management Team with responsibility for OH&S in addition to other duties and responsibilities. However, all members of the Management Team take responsibility for all aspects of the OH&S over which they have control including adherence to the applicable OH&S requirements. A) Ensuring that OH&S Management System is established, implemented and maintained according to OHSA standards B) Ensuring that senior management receives reports on the performance of the OH&S management system in order to suggest and implement improvement ideas if applicable. C) May delegate some duties to a subordinate/HS Coordinator while still remaining accountability. OHSA DUTIES: As a competent supervisor (Manager) as outlined in the Ontario OHSA, Section 27 (1) & (2), you shall ensure that a worker: Works in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Act and the regulations; Uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker’s employer requires to be used or worn; Advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware; Where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of the worker; Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker. Follows and enforces the guidelines and rules as defined in the Employee Handbook and Company policies In addition to the above, a competent manager is also required to; Perform regular workplace inspections Conduct safety talks and cell meetings Actively participate in accident/incident investigations Train new employees Identify and correct unsafe acts or conditions Identify, correct or commend health and safety performance Conduct performance appraisals for workers’ safety performance Attend monthly JHSC Meetings on a regular basis Review annually the individual elements of the OHS Management System and Program Participate in both planned and unplanned inspections of the facility, and report/follow up with Health and Safety related concerns Attend annual Health and Safety training RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: HR Diploma from Accredited University or College Member of HRPA Minimum 5 years experience working in an automotive or fast paced manufacturing environment. Minimum 5+ years experience in progressing HR position s with leadership experience Must have working knowledge of OHSA requirements and Environmental requirements Must have excellent knowledge of Employee Legislation including but not limited to Employment Standards Act, WSIB, Benefit Management including STA and LTD etc Must demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to adjust quickly to changing project deadlines and tasks Must be able to maintain focus and ensure timely follow up on all projects and tasks on hand Must have excellent organizational, leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Able to be flexible in hours of work in order to meet internal/external customer requirements (scheduled and non-scheduled overtime shifts, etc.) Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
