Req ID: 26082  Vacancy Type: Temporary  Contract Duration: May - December, 2025 Number of Positions: 1   Closing Date: 03/31/2025 Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor and licensed HVAC trades team, the HVAC Assistant will support the maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment across various City facilities, including Community Centres, Parks, Libraries, Heritage Sites, Works, and Transit facilities. This role provides hands-on experience in a dynamic, team-oriented environment while ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities Assist licensed HVAC mechanics with preventive and demand maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnosing HVAC systems and equipment. Support the installation, repair, and servicing of HVAC components, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency. Participate in a collaborative, customer-focused work environment that emphasizes continuous improvement and teamwork. Follow all safety regulations, procedures, and City policies to ensure a secure working environment. Perform additional duties as assigned to support operational needs. Skills and Qualifications Secondary School education is required. Currently enrolled in an accredited HVAC trades school in Ontario. Capable of performing physically demanding tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting. Prior training, certifications, or hands-on experience related to HVAC systems is considered an asset.
