Position Overview

Quaker Mechanical is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Estimator to join our team. This role will play a key part in preparing competitive bids, analyzing HVAC system requirements, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to support both design/build and plan/spec projects. We are a union shop servicing a wide range of commercial and industrial clients.

Key Responsibilities

·         Develop comprehensive estimates for a wide range of HVAC systems including: chillers, air handling units, packaged RTUs, unit ventilators, VAV systems, refrigeration/freezer units, exhaust systems, boilers, pumps, ATC systems, cooling towers, kitchen exhaust hood systems, and VRF systems.

·         Review project drawings, specifications, and scopes of work to identify cost drivers.

·         Coordinate and develop RFIs, submittals, and purchase orders.

·         Work closely with the President, Director of Operations, and Project Management team.

·         Support design/build efforts and implement value engineering strategies.

·         Provide technical guidance to project managers and other internal team members.

·         Participate in client and project meetings to support ongoing project development.

·         Track market trends and subcontractor pricing to ensure competitive and accurate bid proposals.

·         Maintain detailed and organized bid records.

·         Ensure estimates align with bonding requirements (up to $25M).

Qualifications

·         Minimum 7–10 years of experience as an estimator in the HVAC or related construction industry.

·         Proven experience with both design/build and plan/spec projects.

·         In-depth technical knowledge of commercial and industrial HVAC systems and components.

·         Experience in unionized environments and coordinating labor needs accordingly.

·         High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

·         Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.

·         Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field ().

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present and defend estimates.

·         Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000 annually, based on experience.
