Job Description: Project Engineer (HVAC)Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in HVAC design and calculations, and Project management execution. The ideal candidate will possess a P.Eng designation in Ontario and have 10-15+ years of experience, including previous experience in HVAC systems. This role will involve overseeing the planning, execution, and closeout of projects, with a particular focus on HVAC design, performance, and compliance. The Project Engineer will work closely with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.Key Responsibilities:Project Tendering:Review and analyze tender requirements to ensure compliance with HVAC project specifications.Assist in ensuring all project tender tasks are completed within the specified timeline.Review and finalize tender documents, ensuring all sections cover the scope and meet project requirements.Prepare and manage project scope change records, with a focus on HVAC system changes and adjustments.Project Completion & Closeout:Prepare and track punch-lists for HVAC systems during project completion and closeout.Develop redline and as-built HVAC drawing records to reflect system modifications.Present closeout documentation, including HVAC operation and maintenance manuals, to clients.Ensure a smooth turnover of HVAC system information to the service and sales departments for ongoing support.Project & Engineering Services Development:Collaborate with team members to develop plans for PES Department deliverables, focusing on HVAC initiatives.Prepare and present HVAC-specific project management principles related to safety, accuracy, quality, and profitability.Administer HVAC engineering standards and collaborate with regional engineering bodies to meet project and regulatory requirements.Research and introduce opportunities for advancing HVAC technologies, energy efficiency, and new business concepts.Assist with material and equipment selection, ensuring accuracy in pricing and compliance with HVAC system specifications.Participate in site visits, offering technical expertise for HVAC systems and ensuring compliance with project designs.Project Opening & Kick-Off:Prepare requests for internal project file openings, ensuring all HVAC-related administration records are accurate.Assist in ordering HVAC materials and equipment for project implementation.Organize and conduct formal project kick-off meetings with stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on HVAC system goals.Project Design & Execution:Prepare HVAC shop drawings and submittal packages in compliance with project specifications.Review HVAC equipment details and ensure proper execution of planned work, including compliance with codes and standards.Create HVAC design drawings, engineering calculations, and details for internal review with team members.Develop and maintain detailed HVAC project schedules and progress reports, providing regular project updates.Prepare project-specific safety plans, methods of procedure (MOP) documentation, and customer-specific HVAC forms.Supervise onsite HVAC activities, conducting quality inspections and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.Submit progress billing requests and track HVAC project financials, ensuring adherence to budget and schedule.Qualifications:P.Eng designation in Ontario (required).Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.10-15+ years of experience in HVAC systems design, calculation, and project management.Proficient in HVAC load calculations, system design, and energy-efficient solutions.Experience in preparing detailed engineering calculations and drawings for HVAC systems an assetExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, and HVAC design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).Travel to customer sitesBenefits:Competitive salary and benefits package.Opportunities for professional growth and development.Collaborative and dynamic work environment.
