Job Title: Senior Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Engineer

Position Overview:
TotalEnergies is seeking an experienced Senior Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Engineer to join our client at their Port Arthur Refinery. This individual will play a key role in driving the performance, safety, and reliability of electrical and instrumentation systems across the site. The ideal candidate brings 7–10 years of hands-on experience in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments and can lead cross-functional efforts to support both maintenance and capital projects.
Key Responsibilities:

System Reliability & Optimization:

Monitor and analyze the performance of electrical and instrumentation systems to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards.

Lead initiatives in predictive and preventive maintenance using tools such as thermography, motor diagnostics, and vibration analysis.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance Support:

Provide expert-level troubleshooting for complex electrical and instrumentation issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

Mentor junior engineers and technicians in maintenance best practices and system diagnostics.

Project & Design Engineering:

Contribute to the engineering design and commissioning of new and modified I&E systems.

Support project planning, cost estimation, and technical reviews for electrical scopes of work.

Compliance & Standards:

Ensure all work complies with applicable standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and internal TotalEnergies safety and reliability practices.

Maintain and update technical documentation, including loop diagrams, P&IDs, and specifications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

Partner with operations, process engineering, maintenance, and HSE teams to align efforts across departments.

Serve as the technical subject matter expert during audits, inspections, and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) investigations.

Qualifications:

Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.

Experience:
-
7–10 years of relevant experience in a refinery, petrochemical, or industrial plant setting.

Proven experience with reliability-centered maintenance, loop checks, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical and control systems.

Technical Proficiency:

Expertise in high- and low-voltage systems, switchgear, transformers, SIS, PLCs, and DCS interfaces.

Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and SAP or other CMMS/ERP platforms.

Certifications ( but not required):

ISA, NFPA 70E, or other relevant safety/electrical certifications.
