Job Overview:
The Industrial Electrical Project Manager will lead and manage electrical projects from concept to completion, ensuring they meet quality, time, and budget specifications. This includes supervising the project team, coordinating with clients, vendors, and subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of industrial electrical projects.
- Develop project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
- Schedule project phases and allocate resources efficiently.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for design reviews and approvals.
- Execution & Oversight:
- Lead installation, maintenance, and upgrade of electrical systems including power distribution, control systems, and wiring.
- Supervise electricians, subcontractors, and field crews to ensure project execution according to specifications.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to plans and schedules.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and compliance with industry regulations.
- Budget & Cost Control:
- Monitor project expenditures to stay within budget and mitigate cost overruns.
- Prepare cost estimates, change orders, and financial reports for stakeholders.
- Identify potential cost savings or efficiencies without compromising on quality.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Provide regular project status updates and reports to senior management and clients.
- Facilitate communication between engineering teams, site personnel, and administrative staff.
- Documentation & Compliance:
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, and change orders.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
- Coordinate inspections and obtain necessary permits and certifications.
- Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
- Resolve technical issues or challenges during project execution.
- Monitor quality control and testing of electrical systems to ensure optimal performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience managing electrical projects, preferably in industrial settings.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, components, and industrial installations.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, AutoCAD, or similar tools).
- Knowledge of relevant electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations.
- Exceptional leadership, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
Qualifications:
- Professional certification such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer).
- Experience in managing multi-million-dollar industrial projects.
- Familiarity with energy-efficient technologies or green building standards.
