Industrial Engineer

Role DescriptionThe Industrial Engineer will be responsible for optimizing complex processes and systems, enhancing productivity, reducing waste, and ensuring quality and efficiency in shipbuilding operations. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in industrial engineering principles and a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.Responsibilities will include:Measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and maintaining process excellence.Leading stakeholder engagement and change activities, including leading change to improve production procedures, processes, and controls.Executing and coaching Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing tools such as root cause analysis, SIPOC, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, FMEA, Fishbone diagrams, etc.Performing process improvement projects using Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control principles.Executing and implementing key elements of Industrial Engineering’s work breakdown structure, including 5S standardization, standard operating procedures, performance metrics, capacity analysis, workplace standards, total productive maintenance, overall equipment effectiveness, and process improvement.Building relationships and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders. QualificationsThe ideal candidate will posses a strong foundation of engineering principles and a commitment to excellence. A demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to dynamic environments and thrive in a fast-paced setting, and a proactive problem-solving approach are also essential traits for this role.Qualifications include:Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Accredited or eligible for accreditation with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng).4 plus years of work experience in a complex industrial or manufacturing environment.Certification in "Change Management" or "Leading Change," or equivalent training or experience considered an asset.Proven experience in manufacturing process assessment and development.Demonstrated experience using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma toolsets in an industrial setting.Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships both within and among team members.Effective and persuasive communication skills in English, both oral and written.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
