Industrial Maintenance Technician / Maintenance Mechanic
Classification - Non-Exempt
Salary Range - $25.00 - $30.00
Reports to - Director of Research and Development
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Full Time - Monday through Friday 7 AM to 3:30 PM. This position may require you to work long hours during a breakdown.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective The industrial maintenance technician will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical and electrical issues on manufacturing equipment including, but not limited to stamping presses, conveyors, robotic welders, and automation packaging equipment such as case sealers and case erectors.
Essential Functions

- Perform maintenance on various types of production equipment (machine repair, electrical, mechanical, welding and fabrication)
- Proficient in diagnosing and performing mechanical troubleshooting (power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics etc.)
- Construct, assemble, and install machines and equipment using a variety of hand and power tools
- Serve as a resource and support in a production environment
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
- Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum efficiency
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Comply with OSHA safety and health rules
- Performs necessary preventative maintenance on equipment per PM schedule
- Collaborate with other departments to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Completes maintenance related paperwork and record keeping as required

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Travel
Limited travel may occasionally be required for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience as a millwright/maintenance mechanic in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
Education and Experience
- Technical training, associate’s degree, or military equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years of related experience in production machines in a metal stamping environment.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting.
