Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer
Description:
CTG is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer / Systems Engineer to work onsite in NYC. Must have proper work authorization, and this position does not allow for C2C or 1099.
Location: Onsite in NYC 5 days per week (Must have a valid drivers license)
Duration: Long term contract that could be a contract to hire
Key Responsibilities:
Operating Systems & Servers:
Proficiency with Windows Server/Desktop operating systems, including user administration, file systems, software, and services.
Management of operating systems across various platforms, including workstations and application servers.
Understanding and managing servers and various storage RAID configurations.
Design, implementation, and management of VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and Nutanix environments.
Experience with managing Nutanix clusters.
Active Directory & Authentication:
Management of Active Directory, including backup and recovery of domains and Group Policy Object (GPO) setups.
Networking & Security:
Strong understanding of fundamental networking concepts and troubleshooting (DHCP, DNS, routing, firewalls).
Fundamental understanding of security principles, access control lists (ACLs), and encryption.
Experience with disaster recovery planning and the ability to perform backups and restores for systems, applications, and data.
Scripting & Automation:
Proficiency in scripting such as PowerShell, Bash, Ksh, or Perl for automating routine tasks.
Ability to interpret, modify, and write scripts and SQL queries.
Monitoring & Optimization:
Experience with active monitoring of the entire infrastructure and troubleshooting servers.
Ability to monitor system health and performance, provide statistics to identify bottlenecks, and lead optimization efforts.
Maintenance & Support:
Patch and firmware installation and management.
Providing exceptional end-user support experience (+1 end-user support).
Willingness to provide off-hour, on-call support for workstations, servers, and other system-related issues, including travel to various supported sites.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years' experience in IT support, with at least 3-5 years in an enterprise IT environment.
Strong technical knowledge of various computing platforms, including servers, networks, and storage.
Experience with scripting for automation.
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and flexible to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines with a safety mindset.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to produce documentation on solutions and system design.
Ability to exercise good judgment, integrity, and make sound business decisions.
Willingness to work overtime and flexible hours to respond to emergencies or scheduled work outside normal business hours.
Must have the means and ability to travel to various company locations (valid driver's license required).
Nice to Have:
Experience with 2nd and 3rd-level technical support.
Analysis of cyber activity and threats.
Experience with Splunk.
Experience with Failover Manager administration with clustering in VMware.
