Job DescriptionJob Description
Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have a thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and techniques of the electrical/IT trade; the ability to diagnose violations and hazards in new and existing electrical/IT installations and take a proactive approach during construction; have a general understanding of low voltage systems including fire/life safety and information technology; have the ability to read and interpret contract documents, electrical codes, applicable standards. Electrical/IT Inspectors must have the ability to set priorities, the ability to make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision, the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, the public and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Conducts inspections in Public works right of ways, buildings, tenant improvement renovations & civil electrical work, shall possess experience & have knowledge of the materials and understanding methods used in the installation of electrical components & local code requirements.

Shall possess knowledge in low voltage IT systems including interpretation of code requirements.

Experience desired in inspection of electrical rough and finishes not limited to, underground utilities, high voltage gear & electrical panels, 400 HZ conduit racks, conductors, grounding systems, breakers, interior & exterior lighting, fire life & safety systems, smoke & heat sensors, FM-200 installations, lock out tag out requirements, electrical panel shutdowns, IT door card readers and components, security cameras, communication P.A. systems, etc.
Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications

Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have at 3 years or more of experience performing electrical/IT inspections; For task on the Airfield, 3 years or more of experience with airfield lighting is required.

Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have at 3 years or more of experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction.

Candidate must possess the ability to work well with others in large programs, is kind, well mannered & respectful all times with colleagues, stakeholders, construction community & the non-construction personnel.

Must be open to learn the prescriptive items required by the agency.

Possess computer proficiency to review & utilize electronic equipment for contract documents in an efficient manner such as change orders, submittals, RFI's & other inspection documents efficiently with minimal supervision.

Shall possess the ability to write clear and concise documents depicting daily progress of the work, may be assigned to a program where the inspector prepares monthly progress payment request, tracks various changes, verifies time and material work, measure, and documents job quantities.
Requirements:
Electrical/IT inspection staff shall have at 3 years or more of experience performing electrical/IT inspections; For task on the Airfield, 3 years or more of experience with airfield lighting is required.
'Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Electrical Inspector;
Proof of NFPE-70E standards. Completion of training must have been achieved within the last 3 years
30-hour Cal-OSHA training prior to assignment. The 30-hour training will have been received within the last 4 years.'

Shall be open to work modified schedules including nights & weekends as dictated by the contractors' work activities & accelerated project schedules.
