POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

KKCS is seeking an experienced Inspector - Electrical / IT to join our team at LAWA. The role will specifically support the T4/5 American Renovation and NELA programs. The successful candidate will conduct thorough inspections across various public works projects, buildings, tenant improvement renovations, and civil electrical installations. Candidates should possess substantial experience and detailed knowledge of electrical installation methods, materials, local code requirements, and low-voltage IT systems. This is a full-time, onsite position with a Work schedule of 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM from Sunday night – Friday morning. The right candidate shall be open to work modified schedules including nights & weekends as dictated by the contractors’ work activities & accelerated project schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections in public works rights-of-way, buildings, tenant improvement renovations, and civil electrical projects.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of electrical components installation methods and local code requirements.
  • Evaluate low-voltage IT systems and accurately interpret related code requirements.
  • Inspect electrical rough and finish installations, including underground utilities, high-voltage gear, electrical panels, 400 HZ conduit racks, conductors, grounding systems, circuit breakers, interior and exterior lighting, fire life & safety systems, smoke and heat sensors, FM-200 installations, lockout/tagout procedures, electrical panel shutdowns, IT door card readers, security cameras, and communication/public announcement systems.
  • Prepare concise and clear documentation of daily work progress.
  • Manage tasks including monthly progress payment requests, tracking changes, verifying time and material work, measuring, and documenting job quantities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience performing electrical/IT inspections.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience performing electrical/IT inspections specifically related to Building Construction.
  • For tasks involving airfield lighting, at least 3 years of related experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in large program environments.
  • Demonstrates kindness, professional courtesy, and respect towards colleagues, stakeholders, and construction/non-construction personnel at all times.
  • Openness and willingness to learn agency-specific prescriptive items.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

Education / Training:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CAL OSHA-30 certification.
  • Completion and certification in NFPA-13 training.
  • Fall protection and Harness training certification.

Hardware/Software Knowledge:

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to effectively utilize email for communications.
  • Proficiency with electronic document management for handling contract documents such as change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents.
