Instrument Technician

Specialist designer and manufacturer of complex electromechanical safety-critical products for industrial & environmental applications. Medium volume manufacturers whose popular products may sell 15,000 per annum.

Info about what the role entails

A broad, varied and very interesting C&I Tech / Instrument Technician / Project Engineering / C&I design / Technician role tailoring a solution to customer needs. This team work across the whole project lifecycle from start to finish, working closely with their customer to add value to take the problem away. You will start at the quote stage, win the order and then engineer the product working with lots of different departments including sales, production, service, marketing and attending trade shows occasionally.

You will produce Electrical diagrams (training will be provided), project documentation and see projects through including installation, commissioning and technical support.

Essential Requirements of the Instrument Technician/ C&I Tech / Instrument Technician

* Degree or HNC / ONC / Apprentice in Electrical Engineering or C&I or Controls & Instrumentation

* An understanding of logic, inputs and outputs, PLCs, instrumentation, wiring components etc

* Good attitude and aptitude is needed as every system is different – so you will be getting hands on, doing some wiring, some programming and some testing (eg going to site testing).

* An understanding of basic electronics - signals, relay logic, Ohm's law, how to calculate power, resistance and currents.

Desirable Requirements of the Instrument Technician/ C&I Tech / Instrument Technician

* Able to use AutoCAD (or willing to learn)

* An interest in things like RaspberryPi and Python
