Our client, a well-respected leader in the flavor and fragrance industry, is currently looking for an Instrumentation Controls and Electrical Engineer to join their team at their Danbury, CT location. Under general supervision, this person will oversee the electrical and control systems for production, document and maintain existing systems while participating in the design and hazard analyses for new systems, interface with all functions as needed and provide input into all decisions requiring Process Instrumentation, Controls or Electrical Engineering expertise – recommending, implementing, training and validating improvements with the engineering, maintenance and operations staff.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop and maintain electrical and control systems and procedures necessary to meet specific project requirements.
  • Based on input from operations, EHS, maintenance, develop scope, cost and execution schedule for instrumentation and control upgrade projects.
  • Identify commercially available instrumentation to meet operational, EHS needs. Develop specifications, solicit competitive bids, perform bid comparison and recommend final selection.
  • Lead projects through funding, detailed design, commissioning, training and project close out.
  • Support operational analysis of data through plantwide data historian including data analysis trending and configuration support with IT
  • Set up standard test apparatus to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Draw and design plans using computer-assisted engineering and design software.
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry, components, equipment, and systems and records effects.
  • Communicate engineering information across teams and departments to facilitate successful completion of large-scale projects.
  • Ensuring projects meet electrical and construction safety regulations.
  • Attending meetings, writing reports and giving presentations to managers.
  • Ensures proper care, safety and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
  • Complies with all BRI environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance, on a daily basis, with Federal food safety regulations/laws, all related BRI policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).        

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering with 3-5 years’ work experience in related field.
  • PLC programming skills necessary, ideally Automation Direct platform.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation required.
  • Knowledge of CAD and power distribution preferred.
  • Knowledge of NFPA electrical codes in hazardous areas preferred.
  • Knowledge of chemical process instrumentation and control preferred.
  • Ability to identify and resolve system malfunctions and operational problems.
  • Ability to review and program PLCs/HMI’s, Automation Direct platform.
  • Proficient and driven to generate and maintain documentation.
  • Knowledge of industrial instrumentation.
  • Capacity to analyze a problem from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions and manuals. Ability to write reports containing technical information.
