TechConnect is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer for an industry leading client based in Memphis, TN.  Our client is looking for an individual that will apply their knowledge of engineering principles and best practices to design and/or manufacture products such as equipment controls, instruments, plant automation, PLC controls, LabView, and more.

This work will be performed 100% onsite at the companies Memphis, TN, 38141.

As an Instrumentation Engineer you will provide engineering support for Manufacturing, Engineering, and senior personnel.  You will calibrate instruments, equipment and controls.  You will direct and exercise control over operational, functional and performance phases for testing.  You will work with Engineering and Manufacturing management to complete assigned projects as well as design and direct engineering and technical personnel for fabrication testing, and test control apparatus and equipment. 

To be successful in this position you must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.  You must be able to plan and conduct environmental, operational or performance tests on electrical, electromechanical, experimental products, controls, and systems.  You must be able to create, revise and implement engineering policies and procedures.  You must be able to work effectively in a team environment while exhibiting good decision making, analytical problem solving, statistical analysis, and excellent organizational abilities.  Must be able to make production issue decisions with supervision.

Responsibilities Continued

• Work with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems, product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretation, while considering such factors as conditions under which test were conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
• Apply laws, rules, regulations, departmental policies and procedures regarding assembly and common practice procedures for engineering issues.
• Communicate effectively with management and shop personnel to develop production and design standards.
• Evaluate new products through testing and/or test data and conduct meetings with potential vendors.
• Minimize bill of material errors by defining where, when, how, and why parts are used. 
• Use computer assisted engineering software and equipment.
• Determine conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is in Electrical Test Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering or Instrument and Electrical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in the Engineering, Controls, Programming field.
• Plus would be HVAC or Oil and Gas industry experience.

Technical Skills

• LabVIEW
• PLC controls (Allen Bradley)
• Microsoft Office Professional
